The Ties That Bind Workshop is a collec-tion of 15 apron studies that continue my exploration of the narrative potential of cloth and clothing. The collection explores the lives of women through the cloth and clothing they have historically made, worn and continue to make. It is storytelling through cloth and clothing as artifacts. Its focus is both personal and universal. The primary subjects of this collection are the women of my heritage, my maternal and paternal female ancestors and women of the African Diaspora.
