One Tribe Workshop: Fear of the Feminine: Linking Misogyny & Homophobia

Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 12:00pm to 1:30pm

Multicultural Affairs, Multipurpose Studio 618 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL, 4th floor

One Tribe presents an interactive workshop that will address the connections between patriarchy, misogyny, homophobia,  constructions of masculinity and femininity, and violence. We will highlight the problem of binaries and dichotomous thinking as it applies to gender and sexuality.

Additionally, we will examine examples from popular culture and the media to frame our  discussion and encourage critical thinking about the way we consume media and how that informs our engagement of social issues.

This SPECTRUM workshop is presented to you by Brandon Taylor Sides, with guest speaker Vickie R. Sides.

Part of One Tribe's SPECTRUM: Shining Light on Social Issues, a series of workshops designed
to engage the Columbia College Chicago campus in discussion and action
on the world's current social injustices. SPECTRUM is fun, interactive,
and a great way to make new friends!
