Columbia College Chicago

Manifest: Ensemble Performances

The Music department proudly presents its top ensmebles, which will perform in stylistically diverse genres ranging from R&B, Pop Rock, and Jazz to Gospel, and Fusion. Original student compositions will be featured. Oby and Human Bloom, bands which feature Columbia alumni, will be headlining.

Oby

Oby is a young, 16 piece, Hip Hop collective out of Chicago, IL that creates what they call "Big Band Hip-Hop." Led by Isaiah (Emcee), they fuse Hip Hop with Gospel and Jazz, which fits, considering the all of the band members are church musicians around the city of Chicago. With playful lyricism and fusion grooves, Oby brings a very unique and diverse style to the Chicago music scene.

Human Bloom

Human Bloom is a collective of musicians led by the eclectic writing of Jackson Shepard and Imani Rousselle. Raised on Stevie Wonder, Radiohead, Herbie Hancock, and Flying Lotus, the group creates music that is rooted in soul-jazz-fusion, but also explores electronica, folk, and world music.
