Freelance Fridays: How to Make Your LinkedIn Sing!

Alumni Emmy Award-Winning Producer/Writer, DJ, and Culture Strategist Niena Drake (`02) will show participants how to use their LinkedIn profiles to attract opportunities in Cinema, Television, and other media industries.

With more than 20 years of media + entertainment industry experience, Niéna Drake is a highly respected Emmy Award-Winning Producer/Writer, DJ and Culture Strategist who has increased revenue, engagement and diversity for major brands and media companies. She has worked with some of the world’s biggest brands, charities, and celebrities, such as Apple, NIKE, Jordan Brand, Rolls-Royce, Vogue,, McDonald's, NFL, SPIN Media, Verizon, AT&T, Verizon, Spotify, Tidal, HBO, BET, Fandango, the LVMH Group, Serena Williams, Deion Sanders, Kevin Hart and many more. Her television work includes on-camera appearances, hosting and producing for television and digital networks including ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, OWN, Showtime, Viacom, Complex Media, REVOLT, BET, HGTV and more. She lead the digital production team and launched multiple unscripted original digital shows as Senior Producer for Entertainment Tonight at CBS. Ms. Drake also produced ComplexConversations shows with Takashi Murakami, Virgil Abloh, Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan, Don C. and Hiroshi Fujiwara for Complex Media. She's also had the honor of interviewing some of the world's most notable celebrities, entertainers and public figures including Kanye West, Common, President Barack Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama, and many more. The Chicago Tribune named her "one of the most influential" Chicagoans.

In addition to being an Emmy Award-Winning Producer/Writer & DJ, Ms. Drake is also a Columbia College National Alumni Board member and a Director at the Emma Bowen Foundation. The Emma Bowen Foundation places minorities in internships and jobs at media, entertainment, and technology companies across the country - including HBO, CBS, NBCUniversal, OWN, BMI, Bloomberg, TIME, Warner Bros., FleishmanHillard, Eledman and many others. As the Director of the EBF AMMP Network, she works specifically with working professionals of color who are recent college graduates to senior executives who have extensive experience in the business. Through the AMMP Network, she focuses on connecting members with each other, exciting job referrals and opportunities, career navigation, exclusive networking events, professionals development workshops, webinars and more to not only prepare and polish them for their career but also create a long-term successful legacy in the business.
