Dance and Music: IMAGES OF HEALTH - IN RHYTHM WITH OUR WORLD

Students in both the Dance and Music Departments’ Advanced Studies of Dance/Arts in Healthcare Practice and Studio Composition IV courses collaborated and explored the concept of health through artistic inquiry for their music, dance, and video making spring semester. Dance students interviewed eight people, each from diverse populations, to expand their understanding of health. Interviewees contributed to some of the gestures represented in the choreography. The student composers wrote a concerto-type piece for violin or clarinet solo and an accompanying chamber group of seven instruments. All the students had the opportunity to collaborate with the community though the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Connections Brain Injury Program, and Rush University Medical College. The video includes aesthetic responses to health from 25 students. Some of the interviews were conducted before the Pandemic. Some after it began. We hope you will join us to take a look at this extraordinary project
