This exhibition addresses how artists invent new realities by challenging old constructs of race, gender, and national identity. These artists use a variety of strategies, such as reversing the gaze, alternating interpretations of cultural signs, examining the space between self and other through a variety of mediums including film, sound, sculpture, installation, drawing, and photography. Featuring works by Dawoud Bey, Myra Greene, Tao Huang, Melissa Potter, Wenhwa Tsao, and Fo Wilson, Construction was curated by Sabina Ott.
