Please join us for the opening reception of ¡Sí, Se Puede!
¡Sí, Se Puede! draws on the respective archives of Cesar Chavez and Dolores Huerta, and their work with the UFW (United Farm Workers) Movement.
For the exhibition, six artists have immersed themselves in portions of the archive to curate ephemera from these activists’ work and created new works in response to those selections. Taking place at Columbia College's Glass Curtain Gallery, spanning along the Wabash Arts Corridor with two new murals and stretching west to partners in Pilsen and Little Village, this program provides a crucible for creating a dialogue about self-determination movements and the relationships between the archive, history, and current contemporary culture.
Curated by Meg Duguid
Victor Alemán, William Estrada, Ian Kerstetter, Victoria Martinez, and Nicole Marroquin, and Gloria Talamantes, with murals by Hector Duarte and Sam Kirk.
