Futura: Hedwig Dances

November 1–3, 2018 • 7:30 p.m.

"Perhaps more than any other dance maker on the local scene, Bartoszek...blurs the line between movement and visual art."
Chicago Magazine

Futura sweeps across the Dance Center stage in an eye-popping spectacle of bold geometry, rich theatrical movement, and a rousing musical score. Inspired by Bauhaus modernist art, Hedwig founder Jan Bartoszek’s newest work is a vibrant and colorful exploration of how dance shapes and is shaped by society, art, architecture, and design in the 21st century. A collaborative multidisciplinary work underscored by themes of confinement and freedom, Futurais “a visual metaphor for Bauhaus’s revolutionary ideology” (Chicago Reader).
