Columbia College Chicago presents the Fall 2017 Creative Writing Reading Series. This reading begins with a student reader and ends with a Q&A session. Selected titles will be available for sale.
David Trinidad’s latest book of poems is Swinging on a Star, published by Turtle Point Press. His other poetry books include Dear Prudence: New and Selected Poems (2011), Peyton Place: A Haiku Soap Opera (2013), and Notes on a Past Life (2016). He is also the editor of A Fast Life: The Collected Poems of Tim Dlugos (Nightboat Books, 2011). Trinidad lives in Chicago, where he is a professor of Creative Writing at Columbia College Chicago.
Desiree Cooper is a former attorney and Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist. Her debut collection of flash fiction, Know the Mother (Wayne State University Press, 2016), is a 2017 Michigan Notable Book and has won numerous awards including a 2017 Next Generation Indie Book Award. A 2015 Kresge Artist Fellow, Cooper was a founding board member of Cave Canem, a national residency for emerging black poets. She is currently a Kimbilio Fellow, a national residency for African American fiction writers.
