Hoping for colder temperatures and a big impact, former service men and women are going to risk it out in the cold. Their hope: to end veteran homelessness throughout their city.
Starting at 10 a.m. Friday, December 9 until 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, student veterans from Columbia College Chicago will spend 24 hours outside in the Windy City’s elements to raise $50,000 for the RTW Veteran Center. Your donations big and small will help us reach this goal and keep veterans off the streets and reviving the honor and care they deserve.
The RTW Veteran Center is located on Chicago’s south side and faces many of the challenges from violence and urban blight that plague the rest of the neighborhood. However, this is a place filled with hope, where homeless veterans and other vulnerable members of the community can get a good meal, housing assistance, access to a computer and a case worker, job training and much more. Columbia College Chicago’s student veterans aren't just raising money for these programs, but they also want to help the RTW Veteran Center get its building up to code and ready to take on as many homeless veterans as it can.
