In 1874 the photographer Eadweard Muybridge discovered a letter to his wife, Flora, from her lover, Colonel Larkyns. Muybridge sought out and shot Larkyns, killing him on the spot. The subsequent trial in San Francisco was international news, and Muybridge became the first “celebrity murderer” in American history. This play also encounters Muybridge’s famous experiment that led to the photographer’s invention of the essentials of motion picture technology.
The Photographer/Far From The Truth is an interdisciplinary performance piece that explores episodes from the life of Eadweard Muybridge.
