Freelancing Tool Kit: Copyrights

The Freelancing Tool Kit Series brings you information - direct from the experts - to launch or sustain a successful freelance career.

Legal Basics Part 2: Copyrights

Getting your work off your hard drive and online is crucial as you build a client base. But how can you protect what you are creating? Join us for an in-depth presentation on copyright law, including information on who owns your work, what you can copyright, and how to make it official.

Our presenter, Cara Dehnert Huffman, is a lawyer and devoted arts patron. Cara earned her Juris Doctorate from the University of Kansas, a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Art Management from Columbia College Chicago. She is currently adjunct faculty in the AEMM Department and is the former Executive Director of I Am Logan Square. Prior to her work with I Am Logan Square, Cara worked with Lawyers for the Creative Arts, Leslie Hindman Auctioneers and the Illinois Arts Council.
