Join us for special conversation with Uruguayan writer Ruth Camargo. She will explore contemporary films from Brazil and Uruguay, discussing issues of community, gender, and racism as they relate to contemporary South American culture. Light South American refreshments will be served.
Camargo is an MFA candidate in the Creative Writing program at Columbia College Chicago, where she also works for the Office of Latino Cultural Affairs. She is an assistant editor for Dr. Cicero Books in New York. Bachelors Grove, which she co-wrote with Uruguayan director Ricardo Islas, is her first movie production. Guest speaker courtesy of Jesus Macarena-Avila's course: "LATIN AMERICAN ART, LITERATURE AND MUSIC". Sponsored by the Offices of International Student Affairs and Latino Cultural Affairs.
