Please join us to celebrate the opening of the exhibit, "Don't Worry Baby"! Light Tasty Refreshments will be served!
Don’t Worry Baby presents new and ongoing work of local performance and installation artist, Hope Esser as she explores the struggles and triumphs of the modern day woman. Through costume, wearable sculpture, and video performance, Esser attempts to embody the popular female narratives of romantic love, career woman, and domestic ideal as a means towards re-imagining longing and desire. From her symbolic portrayals of the literary romantic heroine, graceful figure skater of her childhood, to the stiletto-tottering executive, viewers will see the inherent contradictions and tensions within these female archetypes.
Curated by the students of the Columbia College Chicago Special Topics in Fashion Course: Curate, Design, and Install which teaches the management of exhibitions that explore fashion and material culture in a contemporary art space.
